Skin Tags are harmless growths that hang off the skin and grow in clusters. They can appear anywhere on the body, but are most commonly found on the neck, upper chest, and underarms. Although there is no definitive cause of skin tags, they do tend to be the result of skin rubbing against skin. Skin tags can become easily irritated or bothersome when they come in contact with fabrics, such as clothing or the straps of a bag. Whether you would like to remove your skin tag for cosmetic or medical reasons, our medical team is happy to help.

What is the difference between skin tags and moles?2021-01-24T04:21:09-07:00

Skin tags are excess pieces of skin that hang off the skin and often grow in clusters on the body. They occur in at least 25% of adults and can keep developing with age. These growths are usually brown or beige and are attached to the rest of your skin by a thick stalk, which makes them appear raised. They can appear anywhere on the body, but are commonly found on the neck, upper chest, and underarms. Normally skin tags do not cause any pain but can become highly irritated if they rub or get caught on clothing, bedding or jewelry. We use a very similar treatment to remove them as when we remove moles. Unlike moles, skin tags have no cancerous potential. You do not have to worry about keeping an eye on them or getting them checked up.

Moles appear when cells grow together instead of spreading throughout the skin. Moles can develop anywhere on the body, they can be flat or raised, irregularly shaped, and dark colored. Although moles are extremely common and usually safe, it is important to keep an eye on them. Unlike skin tags, moles do have a cancerous potential. A mole can turn into melanoma. If it is left untreated, it can spread throughout the body. Each mole is different in size, shape, and location. Hence, each mole should be treated individually and with the highest care.

Skin Tag Removal Orange County Patient Testimonials

“After years of struggling with the appearance of skin tags on my neck, I finally decided to seek help. They started growing increasingly after I had my first child. Then more started to appear, I became nervous. The skin tags were so big that they often got caught on the necklaces I was wearing. It was definitely time to get them removed. That is why I looked up this clinic. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel comfortable and assured me that the process would be quick and painless. The doctor was incredibly professional. He explained each step of the procedure and answered all my questions. I couldn’t be happier with the results! I feel much more confident and comfortable. I highly recommend Mole Removal Orange County for anyone looking for cosmetic skin tag removal. I am going to come back to get a few more removed next week because my last ones have healed perfectly.”

– Sarah T. Newport Beach, CA

“My experience at this clinic was exceptional! I had a huge skin tag right on the waterline of my eye. It’s been growing since I was in high school. It was so big that it was obstructing my vision. I didn’t think it was safe to drive anymore, or play sports. I had visited several doctors who didn’t want to touch it. So I didn’t do anything for years, until I visited this doctor. I am so glad I did! The surgeon at Mole Removal Orange County was highly skilled and empathetic. He addressed all my concerns and ensured I felt comfortable throughout the entire process. The skin tag removal was quick and painless, and the results were amazing. I am grateful to Mole Removal Orange County for helping me regain confidence in my skin. An added bonus was that they worked with special pricing, since I am still a college student. They gave me a special student pricing and it was very affordable.”

Learn More About Skin Tag Removal Orange County

Skin tags are growths that typically appear on areas where the skin touches and causes friction. These areas include the neck, armpits, back and chest. Skin tags are composed of cells and blood vessels that grow together. Skin tags are harmless and usually painless, however they do often become irritated due to the friction that can be caused. No one knows exactly what causes skin tags to grow but factors such as genetics and obesity can increase the likelihood of skin tags appearing. People choose to have their skin tags removed for various reasons. Skin tags can be easily irritated and become painful. Many individuals find skin tags annoying and prefer to have them removed to improve their appearance, especially if they are on a visible part of the body, like the face or neck. Additionally, people may find that as they age and get older, more and more skin tags begin to appear. The body often produces more skin tags with age, hormones and even during pregnancy. Oftentimes, it is better to treat the condition earlier on than later. In fact, it is better to treat the skin tag or lesion when it is smaller than larger, because the resulting mark or scar will be smaller. Therefore, our medical team usually recommends that you seek treatment as soon as possible. Skin tags can lead to insecurity, affecting one’s confidence. Whatever your reason may be for removing a skin tag, we are here to help you!

There are many popular treatments available for removing skin tags that are commonly used at dermatologist and medical spas. These treatments include freezing off skin tags, shaving off skin tags or cutting it off. These treatments are very harsh on the skin and often lead to severe scarring. They also tend not to be precise and can cause the skin tag to grow back. At Mole Removal Orange County we have access to advanced technology, including radio frequency ablation. When using this method our surgeon is able to remove the skin tag at the root. This makes for long lasting results with little to no scarring. After our skin tag removal procedure we recommend all our patients to keep the area treated dry, clean and bandaged up for 10 days. We provide all patients with a recovery skincare gel that helps speed up the recovery process and prevent any kind of scarring. The area of the skin will usually go back to its normal color within 3-6 months. If you are interested in getting a skin tag removed call our clinic to book a consultation with one of our board-certified surgeons.
