If you’re in Yorba Linda and having trouble with your moles, we are here to help! We help with skin lesions, like moles, skin tags, cherry angiomas, congenital nevi. Here at The Mole Doctor®, we use a treatment called radiofrequency ablation that removes those skin lesions with minimal scarring.
Moles can come in all shapes and sizes! Moles can be black, brown, or flesh colored, and can be round or misshapen. They can also range from very small to over the size of a pencil eraser. If they’re particularly large, misshapen and discolored, then they could be dangerous signs of cancer. In this case, get those suspicious moles checked out immediately. Our mole removal clinics would be happy to help examine them, and if they are in fact suspicious of being cancerous, they should be examined by a dermatologist.
Skin tags on sensitive areas like eyelids:
Not only can moles look many different ways, but they can also appear in all sorts of places on the body, even sensitive ones. One such sensitive spot is the eyelid. This can be a particularly frustrating area to have a skin tag because the skin on the eyelid rubs up on other skin so frequently; this could cause a significant amount of irritation. Some treatments are safe to use on the eyelids, but not all of them:
Cryotherapy: Cryotherapy uses cold liquid nitrogen and applies it to the skin lesions. It might burn or sting a bit during the application, but the skin tag does fall off within a couple of weeks of treatment. A blister may also form as well, but it can be expected to fall off within a month.
Electrosurgery: Electrosurgery uses heat to finish off the skin tag. This is a sort of opposite of cryotherapy, which uses extreme cold on the affected cells.
Surgical removal: There are certain types of medical scissors that surgeons can use to cut off skin tags.
Ligation: In ligation procedures, the surgeon ties off the bottom of the skin tag and cuts off its bloodflow. This causes the skin tag to die and fall off within a couple of weeks of treatment.
The Mole Doctor®’s radiofrequency ablation: Here at The Mole Doctor Orange County, we employ radiofrequency ablation that is particularly specialized and effective. This technique destroys skin tags and causes minimal scarring. Many patients have come to our clinics with skin tags on their eyelids, and the results that we have seen from our patients are excellent time and time again!
Also, skin tags on eyelids can give patients legitimate problems, even if they’re generally benign. They can cause discomfort or even impair vision if allowed to grow and left unchecked! Skin tags can always grow, but this does not always happen. It does go to show, though, that you can’t see the future and you never know how big they will get. Therefore, it’s often a good idea to simply nip them in the bud and stop them before they become a problem.
Skin tag removal should always be done by a medical professional instead of at home. At-home treatment is particularly inadvisable, because the results of this can cause problems that are worse than the skin tags themselves. These “treatments” done at home that are done with apple cider vinegar or other methods and have not been proven to be safe or effective can cause problems as bad as chemical burns! That’s worse than a mole for anyone to have to deal with, especially on the eyelids!
Now, if you do want mole removal, that’s not going to take up your whole day! Fortunately, we’ve got some ideas to help you fill your time:
